Easy Steps To Cut Cost Of Water
The drip, drip, drip of a leaky faucet or the trickle in a faulty toilet tank can be maddening. Worse, it can cost you hundreds of dollars a year in wasted water while depleting one of the earth's most precious resources.

"Some toilet leaks can send 50 gallons of water a day down the drain. A faucet leak can waste up to 5,000 gallons in a year. The following is a checklist for reducing your water bill:

Check for leaky toilets. Put a few drops of blue food coloring in the toilet tank. If the color leaks into the bowl, it signals that the flapper needs to be replaced.

Repair dripping faucets. Most leaks are the result of worn washer, which you can replace easily in a few minutes. Ace Hardware carries repair kits for washer less faucets.

Go low-flow. Install low-flow shower heads that reduce water use up to half while still providing a luxuriant shower.

Use shower-off button. You can really reduce water consumption by using the showerhead shut off while lathering up and then turning it on again to rinse off.
