Easy steps to help save you energy-and money
Focusing on the environment and conserving our national resources has become a
hot topic in recent years. Paul's Ace Hardware is joining the cause, stocking
more earth-friendly products in their store, and helping you find ways to save
energy, conserve water and preserve our environment.
While you may not be aware of it, there are literally hundreds of ways you can
help to conserve energy in your own home. Not only will your efforts reduce
energy usage, you'll also be reducing your energy expenses. These suggestions
you may want to implement at home or in the office.
Turning off the air conditioner when you leave home is a good way to save energy
and money. A programmable thermostat or a clock on your hot water heater will
help save energy by automatically adjusting the temperature while you're gone.
Watering during the early morning hours will help you get the most for your
water usage. Mid-day watering loses too much through evaporation and watering in
the evening can cause fungus in grass plants.
Compact fluorescent light bulbs use only one-fourth the energy of conventional
incandescent bulbs and last 10 times as long. You'll find a wide assortment of
energy-saving bulbs at Paul's Ace Hardware.
An open ended garden hose will dispense between 5 and 10 gallons of water every
minute. You can conserve water , and reduce water bills, by putting a nozzle on
your hose that you can turn on and off as needed.
Install motion sensor lights outside which turn on when someone approaches. This
allows you to save energy and still light your yard when you need it, along with
the added security.
Paint the interior of your home or office a lighter color and you won't need to
use so many lights, which saves you energy. Lighter paint reflects more light.
Stop by Paul's Ace Hardware to find a host of conservation-minded products that
will help you reduce your energy usage, and help the environment at the same
time. The store is located at 100 East Main St. Ottawa, OH and is open M-F8-8,
